Class Reunions: Torture or punishment...

*How do you feel...torture or punishment?:

There are many people who say it's both torture and punishment because they have gained so much weight, aged, and changed their looks so much it would take them two years to get prepared for a class reunion. There are others who wouldn't miss a class reunion if they had to be carried in on a stretcher. As for me, there is nothing more pleasant than to visit with my classmates and to know how they have been doing in their lives and just to sit and re-hash some wonderful times we had in our pasts.

Many people who come to class reunions go on diets, exercise, and do everything possible to look as young and lively as they possibly can. This doesn't have any affect on me whatsoever because we all change in our lives and we might as well allow our classmates to see how we really have aged, gained weight, etc. What's the use in putting ourselves through so much torture and punishment to meet other classmates who have gained weight, turned gray, and completely changed their looks too?

*Time does change everyone:

None of us look as we did in our early teens and we might as well accept it and enjoy seeing the older gang of our classmates. Many people who I've talked to throughout the years say, "I prefer not to go to my class reunion because I've changed so much," or "I'd rather be beat than attend a class reunion...it's so boring and I have nothing in common with these people after all these years." To me, this certainly is not understandable because these are people we've had so much in common with in our early years of life. How can we toss something that once was so precious to us to the curb?

Classmates memories are some of the best memories in my life. There was a closenesses with many of these friends that was like we were siblings. There were such happy moments we shared together and wonderful football games, dances, etc., that enriched our lives to make us the people we became in life. We learned to have interpersonal relationships with these people and to know how to interact with others in our lives.

*Summation:

As for my opinion, class reunions are definitely not a torture or punishment but a time to be with the teens we enjoyed and loved in our early years of life. We shared so much with each other and we learned so many wonderful things from each other that it is a sheer joy to return to be with them and to relive some of those great memories.
