Are you planning to host a "Green Friendly" Halloween party? If so, there are a few ways to help save what little is left of the environment that keeps all of us healthy and alive.
One of which is the use of degradable party favors, eating utensils, including paper plates, and reusable trick or treat bags. Instead of buying packaged pumpkin seeds and/or some such Halloween treats you can make your own treats, thus reducing the cost of purchased treats and the amount of packaging used by the manufacturer of store purchased treats.
The same is also true when you make your own refreshments from fresh fruits, rather than purchasing soft drinks or other packaged, in plastic bottles, refreshments. Those refreshments in recyclable metal containers, like aluminum, when empty, should be recycled.
To add to the Halloween party atmosphere within your home it is wise to dim the lights, or replace your high wattage bulbs with low wattage bulbs. In that regard, Halloween party games should be the kind that does not require the use of electricity. That is, play board games, rather than video games. So too, bobbing for apples, best Halloween costume contests and pin the tail on the werewolf should provide a great deal of entertainment for your guests. Then again, who does not want to play "Hide and seek the vampire?"
It should go without saying that you can easily make your own Halloween costume from whatever you have available to do so, rather than renting or buying such a costume for only one use.
The point here is that the less energy you use, together with the less environmentally harmful waste that you dispose of, the more "Green Friendly" you will be. That does not mean that you should live the life of an average person during the Victorian Era.
The burning of candles, wood and other some such fossil fuels truly are harmful to our environment. Yes, there are better ways to live a long and a healthy life these days, without being haunted by the fact that you made a contribution to the destruction to our environment.
In that regard, it is far better to hand wash your eating utensils and dishes, rather than using a dishwasher.
Believe it or not, the less electricity that you use does reduce the carbon emissions created by your electric energy provider. As the old saying goes: "Every saving, no matter how small, counts."
Is your home a "Green Friendly" home? Only you can answer that question. At the same time and for the good of Mankind and those other living things, I truly hope that it is. Otherwise, after I pass away, my spirit might come back to haunt you for as long as you live.
