But Jesus looked at them and said, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God, ALL things ARE possible. Mark 10:27
Many times we are faced with impossible situations that seem hopeless and unsolvable. We don't know where to turn for help and we end up making decisions that ultimately place us in worse situations than when we started out. We were all given the seed of faith but it, like any other seed has to be watered for it to grow. Without the knowledge and wisdom of God's words planted within us, we have no weapon to fight off a storm. God has given us everything we need to face a storm; even of hurricane proportion but if we don't already know His word it is impossible to come through it without sinking. Some of us know His word but when a storm hits; we are too wrapped up in our own problem to use the weapon God has given us to fight.
The story of Jonah is a perfect example of how we live our lives today. God will point us in one direction; but we find it may not be what we want at the time so we run the other direction. Then, when the storm hits and we are tossed into the the sea of worry; sinking in the waves we've created and landing smack dab in the middle of the belly of life's troubles FINALLY we call out to the only One who can save us; and He hears us and answers, spitting us back onto dry land when we've finally turned our problems over to Him to handle.
One problem can spiral out of control and turn into a storm of great proportions if we aren't careful, and most of the time we aren't. God knows this and He is always ready and waiting to take over when we finally allow Him too, but sometimes we are just too stubborn and try to handle it all by ourselves. However, when all our plans have failed and we have no where else to turn, we find that we are down on our knees crying out to the Ultimate Storm Master to take control. All I can say is; better late than never. Jesus is the Master of all storms and will fight our battles for us if we LET Him. When God told King Jehosephat to "wait, stand still and SEE the salvation of the Lord" He specifically said "The battle is not yours it is Mine and I will fight it for you". He says that to us in every storm we face, even the ones that are self-created but we seldom listen.
If we were smart we would pray first and wait for God to act but in most cases we feel we can handle the problem without any help from anyone, including God. We don't look ahead to the consequences we will face when our plans goes belly up. We only seem to live for the here and now solution instead of trusting God to work it out in His time.
However, lucky for us God is patient and loving; never leaving us nor forsaking us no matter what bad choices we make. I'm sure He would prefer that we come to Him before we create a tornado of a problem but when we don't, He is still there ready and willing to carry us through each and every storm.
