Win her heart this Valentine's day!
"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways"
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
The most romantic of all 365 days is here! Talk about anticipation, huh. Indeed, 14th February can be the most memorable day for you IF you play the cards right. Learn the rules and learn them by heart, otherwise let's just say it could well be disastrous.
So, Hallmark research had indicated that Valentine's Day sees the second most popular card-giving with 192million Valentine's card exchanged every year. Good stuff? Hell, no! Card-giving is just toooo yesterday. That being said, you and I know that we absolutely have to have new stuff up our sleeves before our Valentine this year turns to be the girl who refuses to keep in touch next year.
Well, fret not. Here are some simple and romantic ideas for you to win her heart this Valentine's. And, they're cheap so don't even worry about burning a hole in that Hugo Boss' pocket of yours. Hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
1.
Alright, if you absolutely HAVE to write a card, make your own. Beats driving down to the nearest Safeway and grab a last minute card, doesn't it? And for those who totally sucked at drawing or colouring, there's always coloured paper for you to paste (you need to cut it, of course, into pretty little heart shapes and stuff like that). Or, get your 4-year-old nephew to draw a man kissing a girl with love hovering above the two. Trust me, they'll generally turn out better and completely melt a lady's heart.
2.
With prices rising insanely high near Valentine's day, it probably is a good idea to just sit down, design your menu and surprise your love with a 3-course meal right at home. A hint from a food expert: A lot of food has been known to be aphrodisiacs and they not necessarily just means oysters and alcohol. Do some research and find out what romantic menu you can whip up this sweet day! Oh, and don't forget your candles.
3.
Even if time is of constraint to you both, you can still have a romantic day to remember this Valentine's. Do something special that won't take too much of preparation time, and that you both can absolutely enjoy. Say, a picnic at home? Some wine from the Bottle Shop or fruit juice, ready-made sandwiches, Valentine's cookies, or even takeaway food! It doesn't matter you haven't got the most fabulous spread of food, what's most important is you guys switch off your mobile and just immerse in the two of you. Indulge away!
4.
I guess the number one criterion that she (or he, for that matter) is looking for is neither the amount of money you spent to create the perfect day, nor how nice that Valentine's dinner was. It is, plainly, the fact that you are there, spending the day together. I say, surprise your love with a day off from work and just enjoy each other's company doing anything, or nothing at all. Of course, make sure you've fulfilled your work responsibilities before you take leave. You will still need to get back and face it the next day.
With all laid out plain and simple before you, well, what are you waiting for? Go melt some heart!
Happy St. Valentine, all!
