Poetry: What happened?

by Giselle Sparks

Created on: October 10, 2009

I could only stare

My dry mouth moved

No words breathed out

What had happened

I glared at the man

I had once knew

He stood alone

His broken heart written across his face

No movement happened

Only his eyes focused past me

What had happened

I was confused

I loved him deeply

Did he not see

I wanted to move

Though no movement happened

He stood alone

I was there

Could he not see

What had happened

My heart was his

Though he did not see

He looked terrified

Was it me

He looked past me

What had happened

The fog set in again

My loss memory jolted

I looked one last time

At the man again

He stood alone

His injured heart beat

I realized it was me

My heart did not beat

I had once loved

He had realized

What had happened

Was a little to late

I was now apart

Of a new world

He was alive

I was not
