Who is the Beast? Well how about a little common sense! When someone shows up and tells everyone that they have to get a mark (chip) in their hand or their forehead, that's the Beast! There, wasn't that easy?

The Beast is fun, the Beast is a mystery, it's a code! It's numerology! Is it 666? 616? I don't know. However I'd put my money on 616, only because 666 carries a stigma like the 13th floor of any building. People typically avoid 666 if they can.

616, no one's ever cared about 616 so that number's everywhere. My area code growing up was 616, no one avoids that number or takes it seriously. I'd remember them both just to be smart...

That's the thing about Revelation, and the Beast. Everyone has such a curiosity towards figuring out who might be the Beast, what the number stands for. Huge, researched articles have been written about how the Beast was really the Pope, or Nero, or Caligula.

You know, because this wasn't God talking to John or anything right? John just made all this stuff up and it was all a code for who JOHN thought the Beast was.

No.

It's quite clear in Revelation that it was the Spirit of God that gave this prophesy to John. So, if John's wrong, God's wrong. And God's not wrong.

So who is the Beast? Well the more important question is, who cares?

Everyone wants to focus on the mystery, everyone wants to focus on the riddle, but absolutely no one wants to engage the point God's trying to make with this.

The Beast is someone, or something. It's important to know who or what it is so that you know that this is the mark that as a Christian you cannot accept.

But, let's hypothesize that within the next couple of years someone did mandate a mark on your hand, a mark that would certainly be used for identification, for buying and selling. For all services in society. And a mark that wasn't optional.

Now of course Christians everywhere would do everything within their power in terms of legislation to avoid such a thing happening, but let's just say they lost and this mark is implemented by someone.

Then what?

Then the popular notion of God, and what He is, and what He stands for, is suddenly going to get really, really clear. And this is the part that isn't so fun, no one wants to spend any time figuring this mystery out.

One day, this chip (mark) is implemented. All consumers and all sellers are required to have machinery that will identify you and your personal account information, through this mark. This is how you now will buy things at the store.
