The end of August and First part of September bring in whiffs of the Fall Season. A cool wind occasionally blows reminding you that soon sweaters and coats will be coming out of storage. Leaves are starting to change colors and kids are anticipating the moment they can gather up these red, orange, and brown tree defectors and jump into them.
Yes the signs are all around. Fall has arrived. This delightful season of vibrant colors have many grabbing their camping gear and cameras to head out to explore this beautiful, but brief moment, before giving way to the barren and frozen landscapes of winter.
So how can you make the most of Fall while it's around? How can you delight in the bounty of Fall's Harvest? How can you capture Falls brief reprieve before Winter? Here's a few tips, ideas, and recipes which might help in your quest to make the most of your Fall Season.
Celebrate by making Fall a family event:
1. Gather leaves from different trees and make a scrapbook. This activity is a fun way to involve your children, while helping them appreciate the changing of the season. Have them research and explain how Fall effects nature and include their report in the scrapbook.
2. Take photos. Taking photos captures the exact moment of Fall you enjoyed. Be it the migration of birds, falling leaves, the changes taking place in your hometown, or Fall Festivals capture it on film.
Take Fall vacations:
1. Enjoy Fall from the vantage point of the road. All across America Fall heralds forth changes in differentways. From the East Coast to the West Coast, from North to South, Falls displays can be a enjoyed by traveling the highways and bi-ways of America.
2. Go camping. Fall is one of the best seasons to camp in. The weather isn't to hot and the coldest weatherhasn't set in. Hiking and exploring the areas you camp at can give you a greater appreciation for this short but lovely season of change.
Enjoy Fall's bounty:
During the Fall Season different fruits, nuts, and vegetables grow. Being aware of what is available during this season can help you enjoy Fall in a whole new way, that is through the enjoyment of taste. Some fruits, vegetables, and nuts available during the Fall are:
1. Squash - This comes in many varieties as well. During the fall the butternut and acorn squash seem to be most liked by the kids as it's sweeter in taste.
2. Apples - Who doesn't love apples? Nothing says fall like hot baked apple pies with traces of cinnamon and nutmeg.
3. Pumpkin - This yummy delight can be used in savory and sweet recipes. Pumpkin brings to mind the holidays. Two of the biggest holidays are celebrated in the Fall months.
