Each year most people are looking for trendy costumes to make each Halloween the most memorable one yet. But how do the fashion and consumer experts choose what costumes are top notch for the year and which ones fall short? There are a wide variety of consumer panels that send out surveys to consumers to find out what they prefer. Some of these are official surveys and others are not. Some surveys are sponsored by clubs and organizations where as others are sponsored by stores that focus primarily on Halloween.

The National Retail Federation also keeps a close eye on what consumers want, even at Halloween. The National Costumers Association is another source of Halloween costume surveys.
