Women who seek good small business ideas should consider the following possible areas. These business opportunities are not exclusive to women, but might lend themselves to women who want to expand their horizons with their own small business.

Resale Boutique....

Those who enjoy bargain hunting are ideally suited to consider operating a resale boutique. Consignment shops for "used, but not abused" clothing and household items abound as the economy continues to be difficult. With retail space available in many commercially viable areas, some storefronts are amazingly inexpensive.

Relatively short business hours of operation are also a feature of many resale shops. This is a business area that may be ideal in any size town or city, and requires little investment capital. In addition, such a business can be run by several friends who share similar interests.

Even when economic times are booming, resale consignment shops are successful. Remember, there are always bargain hunters, and somebody serves their needs.

Day Care/Pre School Services....

While the idea of offering day care or baby sitting services has been around forever, there is ongoing need for trusted day care services. Despite obvious liability concerns, it is possible to offer day care to small numbers of children with minimal requirements. The legal requirements for a local facility must be researched to be in compliance with all regulations.

It is possible to offer only after-school services to a few children whose parents cannot conveniently care for their children until after work hours. Any business that serves an obvious need of others is viable, so an investigation of local requirements for child care facilities is in order for those interested in working with children.

Online Business Opportunities....

The opportunities offered by the Internet to creative types are limitless. Women who enjoy finding bargains can resell their goods via eBay or Craigslist. Everyone has areas of personal expertise, and can potentially profit from their knowledge. It costs very little to see if you can profit from selling small items on the Internet.

Freelance writing is another Internet opportunity that can yield income. While it is unlikely that more than part-time income will be earned, writing sites such as Helium.com do provide everything needed to earn from your writing with no cash investment required.

Private blogging websites are also a possibility for writers. If your blog is successful, advertising revenue is a real possibility. The key to success is to find a niche area that you are uniquely qualified to satisfy. For those not pressed for income, a blog can prove to be fun and possibly create some return financially.

Be Creative....

There are no limits to the list of possibilities when it comes to ideas. Regardless of your personal skills, it is possible to make money from them. Great cooks can sell their tasty creations, those who sew can sell their skills, tutors can teach students in areas of expertise, and almost anyone can exchange their talent for an honest wage.

If there is a secret to success, it must be this. Until you try to do something, nothing can happen. So, maybe it is time to take that first step.
