One of the benefits of writing for Helium is the opportunity to earn extra money while writing articles. Helium offers a number of ways for writers to earn additional income on their writing and for being a part of the Helium experience. With so many different options and opportunities there is no excuse to not earn money at Helium. The following are the top ten ways writers can earn money on the Helium site.

Upfront Payments

The first ways that writers make money from Helium is through the upfront payments. Helium offers upfront payment for articles submitted within specific channels. Be sure to write articles for qualifying channels to be eligible for these payments. Every article posted for eligible channels earns a varying upfront payment. The exempt channels are the lowest viewed and lowest earning channels on the site. The following channels do not offer upfront payments for articles.

Residual payments

Residual payments are earned based on the number of page views received by each article. These payments equal about five dollars per month for every one hundred articles in regular channels. The amount will be less for articles in lower paying channels and higher in the more popular channels. The more articles a writer posts the more potential income available. Writing more articles normally will lead to high levels of earnings.

Contests

Each week Helium offers a wide range of various topics for writing contests. The contests have multiple titles within a category and the three top writers for the week win various cash prizes. Focusing time and effort into the contests can be worth it if the writer is able to win.

Marketplace

Helium Marketplace offers a variety specific titles that offer a significant payment to the selected article. Some Marketplace offers are quite high and Helium offers a kill fee for every article that is not selected by the buyer. The kill fee is equal to the current level of upfront payments earned by the writer.

Empty Title Bonus

Helium offers a special bonus for writers who write the first article within a title group. These bonuses are one dollar each and offer an additional incentive beyond the upfront payments. Earning these bonuses is fairly easy to do. Check for various empty titles using the title finder or suggest new titles
