Praying is necessary for everyone because Jesus acts on prayers. You might say, I don't need to pray because God knows what I want already or My prayers never get answered. These are all faulty beliefs because God made prayers for mankind to use.
I say this because I am an avid prayer. I don't leave anything to chance. I pray when I eat food so that if something is wrong with it, I don't get sick. I also pray before I go to bed just to relieve pressure from a hard day. I tell Him everything that is bothering me, so it can be resolved. These are prayers that most Christians do everyday.
But I say, you need to go even further sometimes. I pray after arguments because I don't like confrontation. I say please help this person to realize that I didn't do something on purpose to upset them, but I did it because I thought I was supposed to. When I pray, I pray in my mind. No one knows I am praying for them but I know something I say will help them in some way. I pray for homeless people when I drive by them. Usually I'll say, Please let the older homeless man have help so he can get out of the hot sun, and find some shade and please bless him that they have food and shelter, and live a prosperous life.
Yeah, it seem like I pray too much, but at the end of the day, it's really worth it. I also pray when bad situations occur. I pray for people who I know, to get out of bad relationships, hard times, to have hope, and to save their souls. Prayer is powerful. I pray to God when I have done something wrong (repenting), and I praise Him for the positive and happy things in my life.
A girl asked me once why was I so calm when the other people were out of control. I told her it was because I was praying to God to calm people down and resolve the situation. Sometimes your prayers are quickly answered, and most of the time, you have to wait and have faith. I have no fear of me not getting a great job in these economic times. I know God put a fence around me and is taking care of me, no matter what. If you think I am being silly, naive, or weird, I suggest you try praying your way out a situation, because it really works.
