One of the best websites for online free games is pogo.com. There are tons of free games in several categories: word games, card games, arcade games, board games, sports games, and puzzle games. Some games are interactive, while others you can play by yourself. Each game you play earns points. You can win cash prizes by trading in the points you earn for virtual raffle tickets. The drawings are either daily, weekly, or monthly, depending on the stakes you select: the bigger prizes are awarded less often. There is no cost to play games on Pogo.com because the site is supported by advertising. All the ads are in good taste, and if you see an ad that interests you, you can click on it without ruining your game.
One really nice feature on this website is that every 3rd or 4th game there's a 30 second intermission, which is handy if you've entered and addictive loop and are in danger of wasting your whole day. At first this intermission seems inconvenient, but you will grow to love it because it forces you to consider doing something else for a while.
There are several specific games I enjoy on this website. I am mostly a fan of word games but I also love puzzles, so I particularly recommend a word game called "Tumble Bees." It's like a combination of tetris, boggle, and bingo! Whoever invented it should get an entertainment award. Another great one is called "Word Whomp" where you unscramble a group of letters to find as many words as you can. If word games are not your thing, I recommend the "Sweet Tooth" game, in which you swap pairs of symbols to make groups of three that disappear. This one is a little stressful because you have to clear an entire board of sweets before the timer runs out. More relaxing is the ever popular "Poppit," where you use a pin to pop groups of colored balloons, in an attempt to pop them all. There are special rewards for popping the balloons in large groups. Finally, there's the game "Stack'em," in which you shift stacks of farm animals in order to group them together. The goal is to attempt to keep them from jumping over the wall. "Stack'em" is also a great puzzle because it has lots of different levels to make it easy or hard. On the easiest levels you have 3 or 4 extra lives, and as the levels get harder, there are fewer extra lives, and more varieties of farm animals to sort through.
All in all, this site has alot of variety, and it's convenient and fun to use. It's low-key enough that it slips by most network filters, and is a great way to take a quick stress relieving breather from work. Don't get addicted, but definitely enjoy!
