Poetry: Halloween costumes

by Christine Hutson

Created on: October 08, 2009

Wolverine? Stop trying to stick pencils in your skin

It's make believe and only pretend.

Why not a fire fighter

Or a witch with a hat and a wig?

Good Lord, it's hard to fill a fantasy!

Monster masks and sweatshirts,

Suggestion more than terror,

Oh no it has to be

Like real when you're only three.

Memory lane and Mom

Putting bananas on my head

Carmine Miranda I remember with dread.

Those bananas fell

Turned trick or treat

Into slippery hell.

Nightmare of shopping

Candy would be cheaper

Maybe next year

He can be the Reaper

Halloween fantasy and fun

Thank God it's only once a year!
