In order to discern the bible scripture "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom" on must understand a few terms.
1. Wisdom: True wisdom is the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight and a wise outlook, plan, or course of action. To SEE
2. Fear: Extreme reverence or awe, as toward a supreme power.
Now taking the two of these words we can clearly see that this verse if revering to the reverence or Awe of the Lord and with this will be the ability to discern what is true and right. Thus giving us a clear outlook or plan with a course of action in mind.
If we think of the term fear in the sense of awe and reverence we see that this is a healthy fear and respect.
All throughout Proverbs we read of the wisdom of fear. Fear is the beginning of learning, wisdom and good understanding. Without this "fear" we would not understand nor could we ever understand what God has in mind for us.
Lets take a look at what 'fear" wisdom and understanding can and will help you accomplish.
1. Proverbs 10:19, he who holds his tongue is wise. How many times have you seen or heard someone say something that had they held their tongue the problem would not have continued?
2. Wisdom brings about humility, a sense of being, a wise person heeds the words of God and takes heed. From Wisdom we know the real difference from right and wrong.
3. Truewisdom is a moral quality, not necessarily a measure of intelligence. There are some very intelligent people in the world who do some very unwise things, while conversely there are some people of lesser intellectual ability who have wisdom that is superior to people with supposedly greater intelligence
4. Wisdom begins with living according to what God says is right.
5. The difference between true wisdom and worldly wisdom is that the first is of God, the other is of the Devil.
So we can see that true wisdom is the ability to see things from God's prospective and not from our own.
Luke 2:40, We become wiser as we become more like Christ.
James 1:5 tells us we can ask for wisdom and God will provide.
The entire book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon and right from the beginning Solomon asked God to give him wisdom and he became the wisest man in the world. Solomon discovered that life without God was meaningless without enjoyment and fruitless.
In King Solomon's conclusions on life he found that no matter what "man" tries to accomplish it will all be in vain, unless man has the fear of God and keeps
