Why you should backup important computer data regularly

by Robert Cramer

Created on: October 07, 2009

It happens all of the time. People constantly lose their data. It can happen suddenly and randomly and by many different ways. All of those hours spent working on important documents. All of those precious moments from family events or special occasions, gone in a second. Believe me, if you have had this happen to you once and have lost something important, you will never want this to happen again. The only real prevention is to have your data backed up.The good news, with today's technology, there are many ways to be ready.

As was stated, there are several ways to now back up your data. Disks, hard drives, online, or a myriad of other ways people have now developed. In today's world of technology, the only reason you should not have your data backed up would be laziness. You can now buy applications which backup your data and windows also has some back up utilities you can configure. For now we shall assume we are dealing with a home or personal computer.

First of all, there is always a chance that the backup site may go down or have server issues of their own. Most backup sites will create multiple backups but not all. Another issue is bandwidth. Not everyone has spare bandwidth to constantly be uploading and downloading their files. If your system has a lot of data, your internet service provider may get a little irritable with the constant data flow. There is also the possibility that the online backup site goes out of business and maybe you cannot get your data. That being said, this option eliminates some desk clutter with not having to use disks or anything like that. This is also a good option because
