Wisdom is possibly one of the greatest mysteries God has given to mankind to attempt an intelligent comprehension thereof. While some may attain to Wisdom, for others, she will remain an illusionary pursuit of disquiet and discontent. Many will face huge obstacles in their journey along a path of an interior conversion that ultimately leads to becoming wise. Some will try to purchase wisdom through material wealth while others will have a direct closeness with God and receive the grace and love in their hearts to know the truest essence of what being wise really means. Success does not necessarily mean one is wise.
Wisdom which is mentioned many times over within the Old and New Testaments for me seems to have a sublime message of sorts, one that may remind me, as well as others, that to know Wisdom is to be close to God. In Proverbs 14:33 NKJV we may come to know, "Wisdom rests in the heart of him who has understanding," but, "what is in the heart of fools is made known."
A foolish man is very easy to see. He is usually impatient, irrational, unforgiving, mean, hateful, etc. ; however, a wise man will not be so quick to pass judgment on another. A wise man from my perspective will always try and do what is right before God and his peers, as well as what rests in his own heart and conscience. A man of Wisdom will always have a good heart.
A wise man will have many friends and fewer enemies. Or so it seems. Jesus had few friends in some respects (his friends were his twelve apostles and family), and many enemies (for on his day of great passion, his enemies were many). Though in Luke 2:52 we are told Jesus "increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." (NKJV) After all, Jesus would not have performed such beautiful lessons through his many parables without wisdom. Psalms states that God's commandments, "make me wiser than my enemies."
Cooperating with God's Laws of Nature seem to have an indelible effect of wisdom for the soul who practices such. I feel very strongly later in life had I listened and cooperated with God more in my early adult life my life may very well have turned out differently. Hindsight they say is better than foresight. But I think just embracing what is right by God's standards, (and man's, too), righteousness, justice, and mercy will flow from the tongue as a river of gold lay at your doorstep.
Wisdom also seems to teach us over and over until we receive the proper message. Is God not wonderful? Solomon declares through
