Poetry: Beauty

Pretty Lady
I see you dressed up to go,
with your hair made up and make-up on,
with heels and dress and coat.

The glamour in your style,
confidence in your step,
a boldness in the night,
showing your very best.

Pretty Lady
why do you try to hide?
your movin' on the dance floor
doesn't mask the pain inside.

You're longing for another,
someone to share your life,
maybe loneliness will leave you
once and for all tonight.

Pretty Lady
sitting at the bar,
cocktail in hand, vision blurred
not feeling much at all.

He talks but you don't hear him,
as music fills your mind,
maybe loneliness will leave you
once and for all tonight.

Pretty Lady
let me tell you what you need,
you need to go on home alone,
and forget the same old scene.

Close the door behind you
and turn the lock and key
end the pain inside you
by falling on your knees.

Pretty Lady
listen to my pleas
turn down the lights and pray to God
to give you what you need.

Only He can heal the loneliness
take the saddness from your life
maybe loneliness will leave you
once and for all tonight.
