Some cats are really vocal and meow all the time. Different meows mean different things and different cats make them differently but the common thread is their meaning. You may want to kick your cta because it is so loud and annoying but nobody kicks you when you talk to much, I hope. To stop a cat from meowing all you really have to do is figure out what it wants and give it to it right away.

Did you know cats can make up to 100 different meows? i'm not going to go into what all 100 mean but that is a lot of different meows for a cat to make.

Loud Meows tend to be an urgent I want something. I'm hunrgy. i'm thirsty. I want out.

Soft meows tend to be a comfortable sound. I want to sleep. I feel good.

Yowls tend to be an angry meow. I don't like that. Stop.

Purring is an indication of enjoyment. Keep doing that.

The mewl is a sound generally reserved for kittens, but adult felines will also use it from time to time. The sound is soft and slightly pleading, as though your cat is innocently asking for a special favor. The mewl can be an early signal of hunger, a request for affection or the way your cat lets you know she isn't feeling quite well. It can even be your cat's simple way of saying, "Hi, what's up?" Look at your cat's body posture to read this sound.

Attention seeking Your cat may be dying for some social interaction. If they want to be petted, stroked, played with, or paid attention to, cats can begin meowing. After spending long periods of time alone, they may be especially likely to meow for your attention.

Cats who spend a lot of time around other cats will use a different vocabulary made up of body language, scent, and other forms of cat communication. They mainly vocalise with each other at time of mating ie caterwauling and between mother and kitten.

Other noises are usually individual to the cat that is making them. You need to learn to understand your own cat as an individual if you want to understand what he or she means. Either way cats are great pets for adults and children and petting them can even lower blood pressure. I love cats, a lot of people do. I hope you do too.
