Self confidence and personality are the two best ways to attract members of the opposite sex.

Anyone can tell how you view yourself by looking at you. If you have self confidence, you will definitely have more people coming up to you and wanting to be around you. You don't have to look like a celebrity for people to be attracted to you. Looks are not the most important things in life. Looks fade. You were born a certain way. You can't help the way you look. You can do things to enhance it, such as makeup, dying your hair, wearing heels, etc. You should be happy with what you were given. If you are truly unhappy, you need to look at what you are unhappy with and change it. If you are as unhappy and miserable as you say you are you will change what is making you feel bad. I know from plenty of experience of never feeling pretty enough, thin enough, smart enough, etc. I think everyone has these moments...even the people you least expect. You just have to come to a point in your life where you can realize, "This is me, and I am happy with that. I love myself for who I am." You must love yourself before anyone else can make you happy.

Personality is a key factor as well. Looks will fade over time. You need something to keep people interested. If you don't talk about only yourself all of the time, listen to others and educate yourself on many different activities, you will be a much more interesting person. People will definitely want to be around you. Also, if you are a bit shy, you need to try to come out of your shell. When you are shy, you are usually afraid to do anything because of what people might say, think, etc. If they don't like you or what you have to say, than you have nothing to lose. At least you tried. There are always more people out there that will appreciate your efforts since they are probably pretty shy themselves. And if they are worth your time, you'll find them. It really only matters how you view yourself. That is the most important thing. Don't be afraid of other people; if they don't like it, so what? Who are they to judge? They are not perfect themselves; no one is. And the people who are more likely to judge are the one's who are most unhappy with themselves. They are filling their voids, by picking on others.
