Should we give in to terrorism?

Terrorism is Emotional and Political Extortion

Asking the question, 'should we be giving into terrorism' is a bit like asking should we become democratic. Terrorism has many forms and proponents just as democracies do. First of all what is terrorism? Terrorism is an act or threat of actions to inflict fear on an individual, group, or nations. It purposes is to influence, cohort, extort, or cause a favorable action to be taken by the victims or his or her group. Terrorism can be religious, political, or criminal in nature.

Therefore terrorists can be motivated by religion, politics, or crime (such as extortion). So what would be the short answer for 'should we give into terrorism?' 'Sure' is one. 'Never' is another. In my opinion there are so many causes and possibilities for terrorism that you could give into terrorism everyday. A large portion of the human population works on the principals monkey see, monkey do' so giving in would most likely create more terrorists and terrorism.

Currently in the mass media, the terrorists' or insurgents' as they are called sometimes operate in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, or the Middle East. At least that is what the large media outlets would have us believe. Based on the current state of violent discontentment, I believe the person who brought up the question was referring to terrorism originating from Al Queda and its' various offshoots. Al Queda has been accused of planning and executing the 9/11 hijacks and its' leaders have admitted as much.

What would it mean to give into this particular group of terrorist'? I believe the first thing you would have to do is become a convert to the particular brand of Islam ism these terrorists espouse. Having said that, I think it is important to point out that Islam ism is as fractured as Christianity is. The Islam ism of Al Queda and its' offshoots has been branded Islamo-Fascists' by President Bush. Keep in mind that we are dealing with religious and political issues. These two world-views can be very volatile even independent of each other. Mixed together, they have become the political challenge for our generation.

President Bush chose the Islamo-Fascist label to highlight the character of the most salient terrorist threat currently. They are fascists because these various Islamists have shown a strong tendency toward autocratic or dictatorial control. The Tali ban regime was an example of Islamo-Fascism, where the rule of law was strictly enforced by the state. In my opinion
