TIPS FOR A GREEN BRIDAL SHOWER
The bridal shower originated in the United States, in the 1890's, close to the turn of the century. Originally, the intent of the bridal shower was to allow invitees to bring gifts to a bride-to-be, who wasn't going to have a dowry to bring to the impending marriage. Sometimes these brides-to-be were from poor families; others were not given a dowry due to the bride-to-be's father disapproving of the young man to whom his daughter would be wed. The use of the word shower stems from the gifts being placed inside parasols. When the parasols were opened presumably over the bride's head the gifts rained down upon her.

Search for community gardens, conservatories, local parks with nature trails and shelter houses, arboretums, and the like. If the bride-to-be is really serious about being environmentally aware, she has more than likely planned an outdoor wedding. If this is the case, check with that venue to see if it would also be suitable for her bridal shower.
CHOOSE GREEN INVITATIONS
The ultimate green-friendly invitation is an e-mail evite, but email is considered the least formal way of informing someone of anything, let alone an event that they are being invited to. When choosing traditional printed invitations, be sure to choose paper that contains a good amount of recycled material generally, 80% or better.
Purchase the plantable paper invitations. These invitations are printed on biodegradable paper with soy ink and
