Okay, I admit it, I'm a beauty product addict. I can't go to a drugstore without dropping at least $75 on hair and skincare products, and makeup. While I try everything, I've found there are certain products I continue to buy year after year.
5. Citre Shine Shine Miracle Highly Laminating Anti-Frizz Serum-This is a great drugstore bargain, it works better than any of the pricier salon serums at controlling frizz and adding shine. It smells delicious, and protects hair from sun and heat styling damage. I get compliments on my hair on a daily basis, and I know part of that is thanks to this great product.
4. Jojoba Oil-This is a great multitasker that I always have on hand. Jojoba oil is great for skin and hair, it's chemically similar to human sebum, making it a natural moisturizer that your skin and hair will readily absorb. I add a few drops to moisturizers, rub the oil into my cuticles to soften them, and add it to body lotions to give my skin an extra glow. I also use it to moisturize my hair. At least twice a week, I massage jojoba oil into my scalp and coat my hair from root to tip with the oil. I leave this on overnight, and wash it out the next morning. This treatment leaves your hair soft, shiny and incredibly healthy. Jojoba oil is available at most health food stores, vitamin stores, some drug stores, and Trader Joe's.
3. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara-This is the first mascara I tried in 8th grade when my mom finally let me start wearing makeup, and it's still my favorite. I've tried dozens of others, from Dior and Lancome to Almay and Maybelline and everything in between, and I always go back to Voluminous. There are several variations now, all of which are good, but I still like the original, it gives your lashes soft, natural volume, great color and length, and it isn't flaky or dry.
2. Aquaphor Healing Ointment-A little less greasy than Vaseline, this is a great moisturizer. I use as a lip balm every night, as it's the only thing I've found that keeps my lips from drying out overnight. It also works well on rough skin on hands and feet, and helps sores and blemishes that are healing and need that extra moisture barrier.
1. Benefit Benetint-Another multitasking product I could not live with, or, at least not be as pretty without. This is a tried and true classic. that It still comes in a cute little bottle with a brush applicator, but they also make a portable version. I can't stand wearing lipstick, and this gives my lips a natural flush that wears all day and feels like you have nothing on your lips. I also use as a cheek color, and the rosy tint is the exact shade of my natural blush. If I had to take one product with me on a deserted island this would be it.
