Poetry: Memories you can't escape

by March Claire

Created on: October 06, 2009

I close my eyes
Third time tonight
Hope I'll sleep without a fright
But nevertheless
As I lay my head down
Memories, and my head they surround

There's screaming
And blood
There's terror in her eyes
"Mommy! Where's mommy?"
Is all that she cries

With a jump and a scream
I'm awoken again
These memories have returned,
What's provoking them?
