Hot dogs are cheap, quick and tasty, it is no wonder they have been popular for such a long time. There are lots of tasty toppings that compliment and complete a delicious hot dog. These would make superb toppings.... of course some are more healthy than others!

* Mix together English mustard with an equal amount of tomato ketchup, mayonnaise and onion, adding a touch of pepper.

* Finely diced fried shallots with finely chopped bacon.

* Mix together some tomatoes chopped up very finely with equal amounts of finely grated cheese and parsley. Make sure the cheese has a chance to melt, if necessary put it in the microwave for approximately thirty seconds to one minute, before eating.

* Mix baked beans with an equal amount of finely chopped tomato with a dash of mustard of your choice.

* For a low calorie, sugar free healthy option take a few leaves of lettuce and tear them up into tiny bits. Add slices of cucumber and one tomato, perhaps a bit of finely diced red pepper, chopped into tiny pieces and mixed together.

* Chopped and fried onions with baked beans and tomato ketchup...and perhaps a splash of worcester sauce.

* Diced and slightly fried spring onions with finely grated cheese and a slither of finely chopped tomato. Make sure the cheese has a chance to melt, if necessary put it in the microwave for approximately thirty seconds to one minute, before eating.

* French mustard with fried onions.

* Garlic mayonnaise with finely chopped gherkins.

* Finely diced chillies with finely diced onion and tomato.

Hot dogs are also a good choice for a salad and can be mixed with all manner of usual salad vegetables and other tasty treats. Depending on your taste buds a splash of lemon juice can bring out the flavour and improve the taste.
