Will you marry me?
Halloween, a time of year where we watch Rocky Horror Picture Show endlessly and just as many times do the Time Warp out of sync with a group of friends. You can hear Halloween parties with music on every street and laughing kids running door to door to see who gives out the king size bars and which silly houses dare to give out pennies. Each house occupied with buckets of candy to be eaten during the zombie mayhem and slasher films. This is my favorite holiday and yet there is one person missing from this magical night. Heather, a girl I had met at college and become acquainted with. I like her very much. I sat at my computer and tried to build up an ounce of courage as my mouse hovered over the send button like a hawk about to catch his prey, until I finally, without another thought hit send. The deed was done and now I awaited anxiously for Heather to get the song I had sent her, it was "I wanna be Your Boyfriend" by the Ramones. I spent a small eternity in my mind waiting for her reply. I fantasized like any love struck fool of what her reply would be. She called me up excitedly and said yes, and from that moment on I was hers.
It's been a wonderful eleven months filled with memories of travelling, getting to know each other, and being goof balls together. Our one year is creeping up on me, and I've spent hours thinking of what to give her. It can't be just anything, because Heather is the most extraordinary girl I've ever known and then I thought about my life with her and although I had always feared commitment I took a book and recreated the pages making them artistic and beautiful for our Halloween anniversary. I've planned to take Heather to the town square, a romantic scene where there's a bench and a lovely clock sitting behind it. I'll give her my gift here while we sit bundled up in our fall coats, scarves, and my arm around her. She'll read each page of her gift with my thoughts, poetry, and pictures painted on each of them. The surprise won't end there because when she turns to the last page, ornately decorated, she will find a proposal.
I can't imagine my life without you, will you marry me?
