Sleep Child
Sleep child
Put it off till the sun shines
Bright and unforgiving
The morning merciless comes
inquires of you:
Where went your soul?
Wake child
whoever said not to let
the sun come shining
while you are still awake?
Yes, it's a bad idea-
the worst.
And I say:
Forgive me Lord for I have sinned.
And I say:
Forgive me Lord for I care not.
And I say:
Forgive me Lord for I despise you.
I say:
Forgive me Lord for letting it all go.
The afternoon passes silently but alert
The evening comes on broken heels
The moon rises unannounced
Here I am!
And I care for nought.

Poetry: Insomnia
Take a pill for this and take a pill for that
Lock the doors, turn out the lights and don't forget the cat
Put on your pj's
I’m trapped again in this dizzy dance
Where I writhe alone, spinning
In this restless trance.
Back and forth as the tide

Insomnia
No sleep.
No escape.
She is haunting the house now, moving like shadow;
Light as a whisper in the almost- morning
No
by Jon Coe
I wish to sleep, on heavy eyes
just one minute, please tantalize
But alas, as soon as I begin to dream
I am awakened, by this
by C.M. Tucker
If windows would close long enough,
Maybe unexpected dreams would rise
And challenge pain
That keeps insomnia company.
