What happens when we die?

by Margaret Radisich Sleasman

Created on: October 05, 2009

"We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." II Corinthians 5:8

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done whether it be good or bad." II Corinthians 5:10

Those two verses tell me exactly what happens after death. Our soul (or our thinking brain), our conscious mind will live on after death - the Bible says so in many places of both the New and Old Testaments. To the ones who believe that the Bible was written by mere men, II Timothy 3:10 explains: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" Later on in chapter 4 of the same book, verses 3 & 4 it says: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

We are seeing those last two verses taking place before our eyes. This has been happening for quite some time, getting worse and worse, just as the Bible predicts. The results are that people believe what feels good and what they want to believe will happen; they discredit the Bible as a fairy tale so they won't have to take responsibility for their actions. Folks, I might believe the sun is green, but that doesn't make it so. Likewise, believing there is no God, no Heaven, no Satan, no Hell just does not make it so.

The Bible also warns against false mysticism in Colossians 2:18-19 and warns against asceticism in the same chapter verses 20-23. We also learn that God is not a respecter of persons and whosoever will call upon the Lord will be saved. There are only two classes of people on this earth - they are not black, brown, yellow, white, they are not blond or brunette, they are not the rich or the poor; they are the children of God and the children of Satan. I may sound harsh to call everyone who is not a born-again believer, a child of Satan; but I am not calling judgment, only showing those who are not born again that they can come to Christ as their Savior.

Going along life's merry way and not caring either way does not make you somewhere in the middle - even as a very good person - you are still Satan's child because you did not choose to be a child of God. I am saying all this to let you know that there
