TV show reviews: The Jeremy Kyle Show

The Jeremy Kyle show is the UK's version of the long running US show The Jerry Springer Show. Jeremy Kyle tries his best to help his audience but he is bossy. His show features a variety of people who are in need of relationship advice or life coaching. He believes that he is always right and only his opinion matters. He has a soft spot for anyone who is a mother or pregnant and detests those who have alcohol or drug problems. The Jeremy Kyle show was supposed to be the UK version of The Jerry Springer Show but they are as alike as chalk and cheese. The only two things they have in common is that the presenters get members of the general public to come onto the stage and air their private lives and problems in front of millions of viewers, and both presenters have no recognised diploma or qualifications in mental health or relationship matters.

Quite often one sits and watches the show believing Jeremy when he shouts and raves at someone insisting they are dead beats. But shouting and raving at them wil not get them to listen or change. They do not care what Jeremy thinks anyway. As for the DNA tests to prove a shaved headed lout with a pierced face and loads of tattoos is the father of yet another baby. Even if they do prove it I doubt the father will ever take his responsibility seriously, and the mother is probably better off without him.

Jeremy talks to those who appear on his show as if he is the sargeant major at a boot camp, and they must obey or else. Strangely many of them do, without question. Why the people who appear on the show agree to do it is a puzzle. They do not get paid a penny although they do get an evening and night in a nice hotel the previous day. Not exactly a huge incentive. Most of those who appear on his show tend to be what Jerry Springer would call trailer trash, hoodies, chavs, illterates, addicts, prostitutes, single mums, unemployed no hopers.

Jeremy Kyle's own track record with marriage and relationships is iffy. He treated his first wife very badly, often disappearing for days on end whilst wasting huge sums of money on gambling. He then left her. He was then featured in the press for ringing a much younger lady for sex chats on his mobile phone. He claims he is now happily married and has children.
