Evelyn looked at her husband. Even in sleep he looked guilty. She knew he was having affairs but still, she loved him deeply. He kept denying it and yet, it was in the back of her mind that he was sleeping with every woman he could get his hands on. Well, this Halloween she'd show him! She'd pull the best trick ever, and catch him in the act.
After he woke up, she feigned an upset stomach. "Stay in bed," he urged. "I want you well for the Halloween party tonight."
As the day wore on, Evelyn felt sicker and sicker. She'd jump up and run to the bathroom periodically. She was getting more and more excited thinking about the trick she was going to play on her husband.
"Listen, honey, I don't think we should go to the party tonight," he told her.
"Nonsense," she said, "you don't have to stay home because I'm sick. You go."
"No, no," he replied. "It wouldn't be any fun without you."
"Maybe I'll feel better later."
Evelyn buried her head under the covers. She was trying not to laugh. Her husband was so solicitous and kept trying to give her food and drink.
"No, no," she said. "I need to just give my stomach a rest. I'll tell you when I need something."
"You promise?"
She nodded, yes.
That evening he came in to look at Evelyn. She pretended sleep and he leaned over to kiss her.
"You feeling better?"
"A little," she mumbled. "Please go to the party, honey. There's nothing you can do for me. I'm just going to sleep."
With reluctance, her husband left her and went to the party. Evelyn jumped up and started to dress in her costume. He had never seen it nor did he know what she was wearing. It was a cat woman outfit and it brought out her long legs and rather large breasts. She put on the final touches to be sure she wouldn't be recognized and left.
She walked in the door and the music was loud and people talking were even louder. She looked around the room to see if she could see her husband. She finally spotted him. He was dancing and having fun with several young ladies.
"Ahh ha!" Evelyn thought. "Caught him."
She sashayed over to where he was and asked him if he wanted to dance. He looked at Evelyn and not recognizing her, began to dance with her. Soon his hands were wandering over her body. She let him because she really wanted to catch him and make him pay for what he was doing.
Eventually, he whispered in her ear with a proposition, "Do you want to go upstairs and get comfortable?"
"Oh yes," she replied seductively.
With arms around each other, they headed upstairs to a bedroom. They went in, closed the door and locked it. He began to slip off her clothes.
"Stop," Evelyn shouted, "You are nothing but a cad! I want a divorce!"
He sat up and in amazement, replied, "What's wrong with you?"
Evelyn tore off her mask. "Trick or Treat, do I look familiar?"
"No," he responded, "I've never seen you before in my life."
Evelyn laughed and ripped off his mask. She froze. She didn't know him either.
"I...I...I thought you were my husband," she stammered.
"Lucky man," he answered.
Evelyn went downstairs to look for her husband. She found him in the family room drinking beer, eating pretzels and watching a tape of a football game. He wasn't wearing his costume. He looked up and saw Evelyn.
"I'm so glad you're better," he said. "I loaned my costume to some guy who's out there having fun," he winked. "He's scoring with a lot of women."
Evelyn sat there and said nothing.
