It's hard to get everything into perspective when everyone around you is celebrating. Their togetherness is a reminder to you that you don't have that special someone in your life anymore. Holidays tinged with sadness are the hardest experience to encounter. While you wish well for others, you also wish life was somewhat fairer and that you could have your little bit of happiness as well.

So how do you move forward after all the parcels have been opened and wrappings thrown away, and the final twinkle of the Christmas tree lights reminds you of regret? At the end of a relationship, it's not easy to pick up the pieces. There are too many unanswered questions clouding the horizon, though hope may just loom behind a gray cloud, waiting to break into sunshine and solutions. New Years are new opportunities to start over, and to help to focus on future rather than dwell on mistakes of the past.

Finding love isn't the first priority. Being ready and open enough to let it find you is more in keeping with logical thinking. A break-up is a time of self-discovery, though many of the signposts which point to the future are hampered by regrets. It's hard to focus simply because emotions run deep, and some part of you was invested in a relationship which failed. Jump too quickly, and the baggage from remaining emotions goes with you.
