Everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies! Selling something with a fantastic reputation to people who want them should be one of the easiest things, and yet all over the country parents and kids alike dread selling Girl Scout Cookies. I know parents who just buy the minimum quota rather than actually help their kids sell them. This was designed to be a character-building learning process as well as a fund-raiser, and with a little help and creative guidance, your Girl Scout can achieve their goals and more!
Start Ahead of the Game
Girl Scout Cookies are available at the same time every year. Encourage your Girl Scout to sit down and write out an email to everyone they can claim as friend or family, and ask for pre-orders for world-famous, mouth-watering Girl Scout cookies. Many times people are reluctant to buy because they have already been hit up by four other people. Get in early, and take orders. It will help you work out how many you should get of each kind. Everyone has a favorite and by being proactive you can ensure your clients are going to have their favorites, not just what is left.
Ask EVERYONE!
Opportunities are everywhere, and don't miss any of them. Mom's having a Tupperware, Candle, or Scrapbooking party, ask each person who arrives if they would like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies. An Electrician comes to fix the ceiling fan, hit him up! Take a box to your soccer game and spend a few minutes charming parents of other players after the game.
Make a list of people including family, friends, parents co-workers, teachers, coaches, neighbors, and Church friends. Leave no stone un-turned.
Recruit Helpers
Think through the people you know well and see if you can find someone who works in a large office or a high-traffic business. I spent a few years working in a large call center, and the lady who sat next to me had school age children and she was always selling some sort of cookie or candy for fund raising. She sold 40 cases of cookies without doing any advertising other than a sign on her desk! If you can get one or two people in such an environment to have a box on their desk for your cause, you will sell LOTS of cookies. Encourage your Girl Scout to do their part and make a nice, colorful sign for their desk.
Door to Door
This is the traditional way of selling Girl Scout Cookies, and its my least favorite. There are some real safety concerns, and it is very time consuming. I do think this method of sales can be effective, but choose a good neighborhood,
