Hillary should do whatever she wants, it is her right. As the political game is played, she is well positioned to sweep through the potential Democratic field to carry the banner of her party into the general elections in 2008.
The real debate will become the Democratic Platform under her supervision. Will she risk the "flip flop" label on the War against Terror being waged in the Middle East, will she risk feeding the liberals and activating the conservatives in her opposition? To achieve her objective, she will probably have to, and thereby put in motion the biggest battle ever for our country's soul.
Our country is at a political crossroads; liberals (secular progressives) opposing conservatives (traditionalists). There is no clear-cut majority between Democrats and Republicans, but there are very significant differences in their concept of how we should be governed philosophically. This coming election may be the most defining moment in our country in decades.
As John Q. Citizen casts his ballot for the next president of the United States, he/she will be voting for the governing philosophy that will dominate us for the next decade. In perilous times this is an awesome responsibility that I hope all American citizens will take as seriously as they should. The world that my children grow up in will depend upon their votes in the next election.
