How to avoid Internet scams

Internet scams come in all shapes and forms. It's easy to get sucked in. Even a child can be scammed, so it is vital to ensure that all persons using your computer are aware, and that you have the software in place to avoid such scams from making your life a nightmare. This article is written to address the kind of scams you will be subjected to if you do not protect yourself and make yourself aware of how to avoid them.

*You need this download.

*Trial periods.

*Email scams.

*Relationship scams.

*eBay scams.

*PayPal scams.

*Scams in general.

You need this download.

Have you ever had a pop up which tells you your computer needs a speed check or may be vulnerable to attack? Believe it or not, the actual program telling you this is a scam. What they are concerned about is getting you to become concerned and download their software. The best way to avoid scams such as this is to ensure that you have a pop-up blocker built in to your browsing experience. If you go to Download.com there are many free software packages for pop-ups which will help you to avoid having this happen.

So what do you do if you really feel that the computer is running slowly? Be informed, and ask a computer expert in your local computer shop who will be able to advise you.

Trial periods.

Trial periods may have catches. Be aware that you are giving your personal information to many sites who offer you free trials. What they do with this information may not be what you expect. You may suddenly notice a whole load of new emails arriving in your email box. If you use software which is given to you on a trial period, read the conditions before ticking the box to say you agree with their policies, as you may be opening your letterbox to spam.

Email scams.

The kind of email scams people fall for is varied. Ever been told that you will suffer the black death if you don't post an email on to 7 friends? Ignore it. These chain letters depend upon people being gullible. What they cause is a nuisance to your contacts and encouragement to send you more. Another popular email scam is to tell you that someone has died and left a fortune in your country and that the only manner of gaining access is to enlist your help. Delete it and do not answer. If you do, you may be giving the user information about yourself which you don't want them to have. For one, you will certainly be telling them that the person on that email address is gullible enough to answer, even if your answer is in the negative.
