Purchasing a new home can be a stressful time for just about anybody. One of the key components to making the right purchase is choosing the right real estate agent to assist you. Walk into any local real estate office and the number of agents ready and willing to help you can be overwhelming. Even so, remember, the choice of who you give your business to is still yours. Choose wisely in order to receive the best help in locating your new home and navigating your way through the maze of accompanying paperwork. So what should you look for in a good real estate salesperson?
REPUTATION
Ask around. Often family, friends and co-workers can give you the best leads in where to buy and who to buy through. It's always easier to find a great trail when someone has traversed that way before you. Does a certain name come up again and again? Does this salesperson have a loyal following? A solid reputation is a good indicator of how your buying experience will turn out.
RAPPORT
Is the agent friendly with a sincere manner? Are they confident without being pushy? Is their focus on you and not on their cellphone or other potential clients? A real estate agent that takes the time to build rapport with the client is usually one that will not only follow through with the sale but also provide great service afterwards in case of questions or concerns.
COMMUNICATION
Clear communication is essential in meeting the customers needs and expectations. A great real estate agent will not be interested in selling the most expensive home, unloading properties that have been sitting a long time or meeting a quota. Their focus will be on fact finding through a question and answer flow with their client in order to find the best home for that particular customer.
HONESTY
The goal of every good real estate salesperson is to sell their product in a way that builds a client base of loyal, repeat customers. There is no better way of accomplishing this goal than with honesty. In a field littered with dishonest salespeople, finding a truly honest agent not only gets people buying but also talking about the integrity of the entire home purchasing experience. An honest agent will always have a solid customer base with repeat business.
FOLLOW-UP
Once the sale is complete, there are bound to be questions or concerns that arise along the way. Having a real estate agent that is available after the sale is a positive reinforcement to the client that they not only chose the right home but also the right agent. A salesperson that returns calls, drops a thank you note in the mail and stays loosely connected with the client after the sale is a win-win agent.
Deciding to buy a new home is a big decision. Deciding on the right real estate agent will make that decision an unexpected pleasure.
