The benefits of exercise

Modern Society

What's hot/what's not? This is a way of life for several, an annoyance for many, and just not a consideration for the rest.
We are taught many things in the time we have on this earth. One thing taught to us from the very beginning is what is acceptable, on several different levels of course. Conduct, lifestyle, and appearance are just a few.

Appearance has many avenues of its own such as Dress, Haircut, Body Type, and Size. We have been told and shown what is acceptable in this category from day one. Many lessons are explicit, while others are implied, but unfortunately there are several that are just plain cruel.
Where do these teachings come from you ask? Just about everywhere. We are told by our parents growing up. Our parents dress us and eventually tell us what to wear when we can dress our selves and lastly, they make comments about what we wear when we begin to purchase our own clothes (some comments are nicer than others). They control our diets at least until we're in our teens, and they control our activities. Our parents can keep us active in sports by enrolling us in little league teams and such. They can send us outside to play with our friends, buy us bikes and roller blades, and ultimately spend time with us while we discover the fun and wonder of physical activity. Unfortunately this has become more difficult with the times. The modern parent is prone to a sedentary lifestyle spawned from long hours at work and the wondrous world of technology. The kids also become victims of a sedentary lifestyle. I'll admit I love playing video games and watching TV and my son loves it even more, but I choose to divvy up his time and ensure his physical well being. I deny him nothing but guarantee his health and happiness. So the way we're raised can be a factor when trying to figure out why you're having difficulty motivating yourself when it comes to exercise and diet.
The next teacher is friends. More often than not, this teacher is cruel without knowing it. He is candid and he is competitive. The type of friends we adopt throughout our lives play a huge influence on us in every facet of our personalities, when it comes to appearance especially. The way we dress is taken from what our friends wear and/or think is cool. The ridicule often endured can be emotionally draining, but it tells us what is accepted and what is not. (Within the given group of course). This goes for physical shape as well. Who
