Ticket buying advice: Are your tickets authentic?

Buying tickets can be a hassle, especially when the event is overly popular. The best way to find tickets is to buy them in advance, maybe no later than a month after they are released. There are other ways to purchase tickets, sometimes for cheaper, but how trustworthy are they? With fake tickets being sold more often, you must take precautions before purchasing any tickets from a non ticket vendor. Although there isn't much you can do, there is one precaution you can take.

When you purchase a ticket from the street or from any one else, the first thing you want to do is confirm its authenticity. One way you can do this is through a receipt. If the person bought the ticket from a vendor, they should have a receipt. If there isn't one or the person refuses to show you the receipt, it's probably a fake. There's no harm in showing you a receipt if it's authentic. The person might have had bought the ticket for a lot less than what they're selling it for and showing you the receipt might reveal this, but you're not going to worry about that if you're trying to get into a sold out concert. You'll just learn to buy tickets in advance.

The only other thing you can do to ensure your tickets are authentic is to purchase through a ticket vendor like Ticket Master. You might feel like you're paying a lot, but if you wait until the day of the event and buy a ticket from a person, you'll probably end up paying more. Also, this allows you to purchase your tickets in advance. For example, you can usually buy tickets for events months ahead. If you do this, you guarantee a spot in case the event gets sold out. If you wait to buy tickets and it's sold out, people will usually charge more for the tickets.

Ensuring your tickets are authentic is very hard to do unless you buy through a ticket vendor. The only thing you can do if you decide to buy from a person is ask to see a receipt. That's really the only way to confirm authenticity unless you want to take the person's word for it. Otherwise, your best bet is through a ticket vendor. You can purchase tickets in advance and not stress about finding tickets later. Doing this will make things easier and safer.
