Poetry: Her beauty

by Gloria Pickens

Created on: October 04, 2009

You looked into her eyes and she broke your heart in the blink of just one. Her smile lit a thousand suns and her hair was the night, gleaming with stars. You needed her so desperately, but she didn't want you. You didn't know her. She knew you so painfully well, yet you barely knew her name. You looked at her and wept with authentic sorrow. She bestowed no pity upon your tears, as she gave you every opportunity to understand and become her. But you never heard a word that left her voluptuous lips. You saw right through her, so much so that she was never truly there. And now regret lulls on your shoulders and you fail to comprehend as to why. She'll walk away from you in silence, and you shiver in the darkness, as the sunshine in her smile departs and leaves you for the galaxies. There are no stars out tonight, for they rest in the shelter of her hair. The moon belongs somewhere inside of her, shining its contentment within her. You'll remain lost among the black holes and meteors which never found their way home until tears can no longer form in your eyes.
