Shakti is the Hindu Goddess, the companion to Shiva a Hindu God. According to other sources they say that every Hindu God has Hindu Shakti. For without the divine feminine power the God has no power. Shakti uses her feminine powers of energy to bring balance to the world. Shakti is the divine force manifesting in destroying demonic forces.
Shakti is the Mother Goddess the source of all, the universal principal of energy, and the power of creativity. Shakti is a very powerful Goddess, and is not to be taken for granted. Her feminine powers are what keeps the world in harmony and balance. Shakti is the Yin to the Yang, the stance, and the God's companion. In other words the energy moves through periods of motion and rest, during which order is re-established. Shakti is not separated from her companion the Shiva, for he is the one that beholds her. In the Tantra Yoga we will find the worship of Shakti the Goddess.
Tantra believes that as long as the world is phenomenal, then Shakti is the Universal Mother, who is creator, protector, and destroyer. Giving such power and energy the Tantra believes that Shakti is a divine being to be worshiped. The play between the Shiva and the Shakti are very important and creates the power of desire. This desire is the divine that is to be revered. The desire is not just sexual or sensual. The desire is of power and balance. This balance becomes true when the characteristics are of Shakti are taken into consideration, and internalized.
Remember that Shakti is power and divine energy. The main characteristics of Shakti are of the Virgin, mother, and crone. The Virgin is the desire of Shiva. The Mother is the mature, generous protective of all, and motherly. The Crone of Shakti is the later part of life, the wise woman, the grandmother. With these characteristics we can glean much information about our femininity and our masculinity. Shakti gives us the guidance to achieve balance between feminine and masculine.
The masculine searches for the feminine through the power of desire. The result of the search for the virgin, mother and crone, the wise woman, the masculine balances his own feminine and masculine powers within the internal being and psyche. The power lies in the balance of the two traits among all of us. Shakti is our feminine power. Shakti compliments the Shiva masculine and provides a sense of balance.
