"Can I daddy can I please"
I said as my hair danced with the autumn breeze.
"Alright" he said still thinking if he should,
"as long as you are with me, being good".
That night I could not wait for the touch of rays
that would wake me up shining on my face.
Tossing and turning all night long,
I ran to my dad at the first light of dawn.
There on my table, that was white in color,
sat the big orange pumpkin, we bought from Mr. Muller.
Let draw the face my dad said handing me a marker,
I did with all efforts to make sure the lines were darker.
As I drew the mouth which was to be carved,
I thought to myself that it was very hard.
"Careful daddy" I said as he cut
the pumpkins top to create a hat.
He cleaned the pumpkin in and out
making sure he did not miss a spot.
Holding my hand that held the knife,
we carved together, brining the pumpkin to life.
We placed him out our front door,
"nice" said my mum and I wanted to hear more.
With pride I stood near my pumpkin light,
that had a smile that made it look bright.
Now I sit, my daughters hand in mine,
carving a pumpkin along the drawn lines.

Is it the brightness of my orange
or my inside glimmery glow?

CARVING PUMPKINS
She slashes
she dashes
she twirls around
Pumpkin seeds spill
on the pan
and the ground

I believe that every pumpkin has a personality,
and their carvers wield the power to set their egos free,
thus we shouldn't
Velvet flesh with orange hue
Lend me juices
Sweet and true.
Relent as I, hell bent
With dagger, gauge
And sing out-loud

It wasn't our intention,
His grimace is a sad disgrace,
And hardly
