Morality is at an all-time low in Hollywood. There is no movie foul enough that it won't be made, no music dispicable enough it won't be recorded and not enough people willing to speak up and demand decency in all media. When a famous director, who is also an admitted rapist, is finally caught after escaping to a country that allows no extradition, Hollywood does not demand he be brought to justice, even though his victim was a thirteen-year old child. Instead, they belittle those who want him tried in a court of law, citing it was so long ago or the victim has forgiven him.
Does anyone consider he gave the child booze and drugs before raping her or that it was without a doubt not his only rape? Not in the least. 'Free him' is the cry not only from Hollywood, but an amazing number of 'normal' citizens and France.
Unless people rise up to the level of of anger they now show against the current American government, nothing will change in Hollywood. Directors, producers, movie stars and all others associated with that film making seem to live in an unbreakable bubble of indecency, reveling in sex, drugs, liquor and lack of care for the real problems of the world. They DO, however, enjoy going on all the talk shows with little if any indepth information about the latest foolish subject of the day and making fools of themselves.
Will public outcry make a difference in Hollywood? No, because the public has fallen prey to the lowering of morals and until they can take steps to bring themselves back up to a higher standard and refuse to go see the filth at the theaters, they will never be taken seriously.
As long as movies sell and stars are paid impossible salaries for putting out garbage and cheered for their outrageous and immoral behavior, Hollywood will remain a cesspool of little people who think they count for something special and they do. They count for taking our country from responsible, caring, respectful people to thinking we should be given everything without consequence.
The occasional film that either tells a story without foul words, writhing sex scenes or showing dope as a fun thing, sells big and is usually a cartoon. The days of the Duke being tough, but loving or Tyrone Power making a woman's heart beat faster with just the langugage of his eyes are gone, replaced by actors who can't act and writers who have vocabularies limited to four letter words. The real Hollywood is dead, replaced by a bad copy.
