Soft drinks come in many flavors and varieties. There are caffeine brands, non caffeine, diet, regular non diet, grape, orange lemon lime, and the list goes on. It is not surprising that we have become soda junkies. It is on almost every food menu aside from maybe the breakfast menu, but, I am sure if the customer wants a soda with his morning ham and eggs the restaurant would gladly accommodate his desires. The total consumption of soft drinks throughout a person's lifetime has increased tremendously since our grandparents generation. This of course is because of the tremendous choices that are easily available today, and the need to obtain a sugar rush that has plagued many of us.
I do believe that soda can be addictive to some people because of the high sugar content, and also the caffeine levels in some brands. It seems like the natural thing to do when ordering lunch or dinner to also request a glass of soda. Today many places do offer free refills with a soda purchase which makes the deal even more enticing. When you think about it, a person caneasily consume two or more glasses of soda in a restaurant and get charged for one glass. This bargain sort of speak can not be easily passed up by many perple. Children start at a young age to drink soft drinks because in some homes soda is a staple, and when visiting a fast food restaurant the soft drink is always on the menu. Of course the bad affects to the teeth, and body as a whole makes you think twice about offering this tasty drink to your children. Offering milk, or juice can be a healthy alternative.
Like any bad habit, it takes time to change the behavior that has been the norm for a period of time. When a person is accustomed to drinking soda with his meals it can be a bit of a struggle to break free of this habit. Knowing that too much soft drink consumption can be detrimental to the body is a step in the right direction. Modifying ones so called drinking habits will greatly affect the lessening of the sugared water that is ingested by people daily. Drinking water, can substitute for any sugared drink. If you get in the habit of reaching for water more readily, it will take the place of the bad habit of drinking soda. Self control is the key to successfully breaking the soft drink habit. Our bodies get use to what we ingest as norm. Providing it is edible, the body will accomodate the consumption. Re thinking our options, and re training our minds will in turn be a positive in cutting back on the
