Based on the question: which is a better camping experience it is definitely tent camping.

RV camping is just moving a home to a different location as is not real camping. You have all the luxuries of home so why camp?

Whereas in a tent you get the full experience:

1. The set up (if you make it through setting up the tent without getting frustrated just want until it is time to start the campfire)

2. Looking for wood and setting up clothes lines.

3. Clearing the area and hoping you remembered to bring everything.

4. The real experience is the next morning when you wake up cold in a damp (dew) tent and your air mattress has deflated and you are lying on the ground.

5. Camping next to the river and dealing with the mosquito's and the bugs.

6. Fishing for your food and cooking it over a real camp fire.

7. Exploring the real woods and not the RV campground.

8. Listening at night for the strange sounds and wondering "what was that?"

9. Hoping it doesn't rain and if it does that you are fully covered.

10. Trying to start the fire the next morning with a fire pit full of water and damp wood.

11. Cleaning your pots and pans in the river.

12. Showering and bathing in the creek.

13. Brushing your hair and teeth on a log.

14. Taking a skinny dip at midnight as no one else is around

15. Not hearing other "campers" two feet away from you.

16. The real ruffing it.

This is camping and a real experience and one you are not likely to forget.

Now as to what I prefer that is a different story. I prefer the RV, it is much more comfortable and conducive to my likes. I have all the amenities of home. A hot shower, clean clothes, people around, fresh water, TV, music, a comfortable bed, you name it. However as I stated above it is not much of a "camping experience" opposed to a great relaxing time.

So which is better? There are two sides of course and I am sure each of us like different things. But remember the question was what is a better experience? An experience is a learning, experiencing to try; to live through; to feel; to endure, to survive. If you can "survive" in a tent then you have had the real "experience" of camping.
