Jesus stood in the temple, opened the book and read, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me for He has anointed me to preach the Gospel"... Luke 4;18.
That same Spirit is upon every preacher who carries the annointing of God upon their life and ministry. That man or, woman is called and equipped to stand in for God and to speak His words on His behalf. These words are outlined in His Holy Book, the Bible.
However, this book is widely criticized today by many sitting on the pews. The pews belonging to some of the most widely attended 'church brands' in the United States. The spiritual complexion of many of these homespun denominations morphed greatly over the previous four to five decades, as have their leaders.
Americans appear more interested in trusting the lofty rhetoric of a mortal man, - placed in office by mere mortals, utilizing less sense than God gave a gnat!
Episcopalians (not all) have embraced homosexuality as a viable lifestyle for their spiritual leaders. They would not have wanted Jesus to speak out against them, I am sure. That would be hateful. However, the Messiah did speak out against the practice 2,000 years ago. Notably, in the book of First Corinthians, and again in First Timothy. He did it through His anointed mouthpiece, the Apostle Paul, however. But, He did it, nonetheless.
Roman Catholics abhor the practice of abortion and just barely tolerate the use of contraception within marriage today. To their credit, they recall the words of the Most High God, regarding children as a blessing and, accept the command to be plentiful and populate the earth. Not to kill a child, - either in or, outside of the womb!
However, many Protestant denominations, such as The Emergent Church, readily accept not only the murder of innocent 'persons' within the womb but, encourage their members to challenge Biblical teaching on a variety of subjects, twisting scripture and confusing their seeking youth with false and impotent doctrine. Doctrines regarding every topic from Our Lord's Blood Atonement to homosexual unions!
Long-held doctrinal beliefs, sacred among Bible scholars belonging to all Christian denominations, are being widely disparaged across both Evangelical and Fundamental lines. I doubt if Jesus (the Jesus of the Bible) would be welcome in many of the pulpits in America today. I know that Jesus would not have sanctioned a One World Religion. Especially, the one being espoused, as of this hour in history. And, I believe Jesus would certainly have opposed
