Someone should have warned us,
How difficult it would be
To raise our little Joey
And keep our sanity
He started off so cuddly
A darling child; so sweet
He soon became Piranha
Who always wanted to eat
When Joey became a toddler
He learned so many things
Like books won't eat bananas
And cats haven't any wings
He started elementary school
Such a bright child, we both knew
Except for math and science
And all the other subjects, too
Then Joey became a teenager
He looked just like a man
Eating us out of house and home
Screaming "You never understand!"
Someone should have warned us
He'd move away and never come back,
Leaving us with just memories
And our sanity all in check
