The all time all star list is something that can be debated until your skin turns blue but my list consists of players that I think are not only at the top of their specific era, but guys that would mesh well together in any system not just for example the run and gun Suns system, or the Triangle.

To start us off the point guard position has three great candidates in Magic, Big O and Stockton. For this team however I will choose Stockton because neither the Big O, nor Magic were very good defenders, and certainly not on the level of Stockton. Stocktons unselfish nature, defensive tenacity and ability to run a team is why he is in this spot. He could run the break with LeBron and Jordan on the wings, and could also run the half court with Duncan and Shaq down low.

Shooting guard is the easiest position to choose from because nobody comes close to Michael Jordan in any way. He is the Greatest for a reason. But I picked him because his combination of athletecism, scoring ability and defense is a perfect compliment to the other players on this team which is what I am going for along with choosing the best players.

Small forward isn't quite as clear because there are two other great possibilities for this team, but I did not choose Bird because of his lack of athletecism and defense. That really hurts my respect of his game because his defense was average at best. I didn't choose Pippen either because while he has a great combination of athletecism, scoring and defense, he never dominated his position like LeBron has. LeBron James is a terrific defender, and an absolutely beastly offensive player which makes him perfect in this spot because not only can he score, but he can pass and he chooses to pass which would perfectly compliment players like MJ and Shaq who need thier touchs.

Power Forward is taken by a 7 footer, and is often called the greatest PF of all time. Tim Duncan is unselfish, and will sacrifice for the team unlike many other greats. Duncan is a winner, and a great team mate plus I believe his style would perfectly contrast Shaqs.

And finally the center position is dominated by the most dominant force in NBA history. Shaq needs no introduction or run down of why I chose him for this spot, simply put he dominated like no other can.
