Philippians 4:19 tells us "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." What a wonderful promise. God truly cares for His children and takes care of their needs. I have found this to be true over and over in my own life. God has consistently provided for all my needs in so many different ways,
As a human, and thus a sinner, many times I have found myself floundering spiritually. I might get away from reading my Bible on a regular basis; I might forget to pray. Sometimes I merely forget the nature of my God. Whatever the cause there have definitely been times I needed help with my spiritual life. I remember one very specific instance where the Lord very evidently provided for my spiritual needs.
Growing up, I was a medical challenge for my parents. I had to undergo many different surgeries for many different reasons. I also had allergies and asthma to trip me up on a daily basis. As a teen, I remember there was one day my asthma flared up rather badly. I sat having a pity party and asking the Lord why on earth He had made me with so many physical problems. That evening I was doing my devotions in Romans and I came across a verse that seemed to follow the cliche of literally jumping off the page at me. It was Romans 9:20: "Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?" How ironic that I had been doing just that earlier that very day. God knew I was struggling, and in His infinite mercy he reached down and gave me the strength to trust and not question.
Through the experience related above, I know the Lord can provide for our unseen needs, but I have also experienced the Lord's provision on a tangible level too. Going through college was a bit of a struggle for me and my family financially. I know, with the way college tuition prices are who doesn't struggle with that, right? Anyway, during my Junior year I felt the Lord calling me to go on a summer mission trip to another country to teach English and tell my students about Christ. Money was already tight because I was in college, but the Lord provided all the money I needed for that trip. Some of the money came through the generous donations of friends and family, some came through my ability to work and earn money. The most spectacular provision for that trip was the time I went to my mailbox at school and found several hundred dollars with an anonymous note saying the money was to help with my trip. I had heard of people getting money that way, but it had never happened to me before. God used the tender hearts of many people (known and unknown) to provide for a definite need.
"My God shall supply all your needs." He certainly can and will take care of His children. There is a song that is very popular at my church right now. It's called "Grace" The chorus goes, "Your will cannot lead me where your grace will not keep me. Your hand will protect me, I rest in your care. Your eyes will watch over me; your love will forgive me. And when I am faltering, I still will find you there." God provides for His children. He leads each of us in the path that we must go, and as the song says He will never lead us where He won't also provide. My God provides; He always does.
