I love smoothies. They are fast, easy and nutritious. I love them in the summer on a hot day. You whip one up and watch the clouds go by. In the winter they ware great too with a warm muffin or a hot cheeseburger and a movie. Or treat yourself to a smoothie, soft lighting and a warm bath...ahhh. I love making them for my kids. It is so easy to slip in a secret ingredient. Read on for that secret and you will be very surprised.
Orange banana smoothie surprise...
Ingredients:
2 cups orange juice
1 whole orange if desired
1 banana
1 container vanilla yogurt ( about 1 cup)
5 or 6 ice cubes
1 small jar of baby food carrots. *This is the secret ingredient.* See below
In a blender put the orange juice, orange and banana. Blend on high 1 minute. Add the yogurt and baby carrots and blend 1/2 minute. add the ice cubes and blend until mixture is frozen and mixed well. Serve with a straw. Enjoy. The ingredient's can be increased for the amount of people you are serving.
I know you are wondering about the carrots..well my kids wouldn't eat veggies..none at all. So I came up with this idea. The oranges and juice mask the taste and color of the carrots so you cannot even tell they are in there. Try it..you will like it for your kids too. As a mom I felt better adding them knowing that my kids were getting their veggies too. This worked until one day my smarty son wondering why there were baby food jars in the sink . I had to do some fast talking for him to drink the smoothie. After that you can believe that I never let him see those jars again. So just be careful if you try this yourself and hide those darn jars..
