There are many reasons to get a Google account. While you can search with Google and use Google Books and Videos without an account, having an account makes your searches more useful. Your account with Google will also supply you with a myriad of other wonderful tools.
::Search:: Google has the most widely used search engine on the Internet. While Microsoft's Bing has become a recent challenger, Google is still the de-facto standard in searching the web. When you get a Google account, you can keep track of your searches to easily repeat a search, or pick up research right where you left off. Google can track your web history as you use the search engine, and allow you to easily remember where you saw the latest and funniest video you wanted to show your friend.
::Gmail:: Google's e-mail program allows you to quickly and easily collect e-mails from your other accounts, while putting them into an easily search-able database. With the size of a Google in-box, you will never need to delete an e-mail again, just put it into a different folder (if you wish) and keep it for later reference. You never know when you'll need an e-mail for verification of something, so being able to keep and search all your e-mails is a tremendous bonus.
::Google Calendar:: The Google Calendar is a nifty bit of technology. It allows you to share your calendar with friends, setup multiple calendars for different groups of people and sync your calendar(s) with your Blackberry, Palm or iPhone. You can add events, send out invitations and reminders to all the people involved. You can publish your calendar to your website with just a few mouse clicks, and even allow it to be editable by the world! You can even sync the Google Calendar with iCal on your Mac, providing you with as much assurance as possible that you will never miss a meeting again.
::Google Task List:: Google Task is snazzy because it to integrates into everything else. You can look at it while you are adjusting your calendar, review it while you are sending an e-mail and sync it to your phone. This feature allows you to quickly and easily jot down things to do later. Then, since you're integrating this into everything else, it is always at your finger tips so you're able to utilize this task list better than a random piece of paper.
::Google Docs:: You need Google Docs. You may not know this yet, but this will change the way you live. In the world of desktop
