SELFISH RESPECT


Selfish Respect is what happens to be on my mind,
it's what classy people do when they feel so inclined.
Two movements, two thoughts, just take a second and think about it.
Don't be afraid to open your mind, to yourself, simply commit.

It's when you want to do for yourself
but then change your mind to prove to oneself
that selfish you are not, it's respect you hold dear

and in your very next movement, you satisfy your peer.

You don't hug them so tight as to make them uncomfortable,
you give in and back off quietly, very admirable.
Instead of going to a party you stay home with your kids.
You let your dearest one go so she can be happy no matter your internal forbids.

You don't talk about yourself and vent constantly about your burdens and strife,
You stay positive so as not to upset the loved ones in your life.
You don't let your eyes wander to the body of the woman that just walked by,
You keep your eyes on your lady in front of you, she appreciates you trying to not be sly.

So many situations, I can't explain them all here,
But if you open your mind and contemplate it for a while, it could all become clear.
So, if with these two actions you can instantaneously combine
You and those around you will be happy together, just like twine.
