Dressing or decorating with a personal flair and finding your own personal style does not have to an oxymoron. Finding your own personal style and incorporating it into your lifestyle, can be interesting, exciting and fun. In fact, it can (and should) add to your confidence, making you feel even more confident and alive. Your personal style can be conservative, laid back, wild or casual. How you incorporate your personal style into your life is completely up to you.
Whether you're incorporating your style into your home or your wardrobe, the task becomes simple when you remember to choose what you like. Price matters not when it comes to choosing these items. Usually it's the item you see (and want) that is a part of your style. If you listen to your heart when making the choice, you will enjoy those items for a long time. Your personal style should be a reflection of you, it should include items that you enjoy and that make you feel good.
As you walk through and around your home, the items that you have chosen should bring back memories or give you warm feelings. There is no greater joy than seeing pieces that make your heart sing. If you choose Items that you do not like, it will only bring negative feelings into your home; which is that last thing that you want, especially when you walk through your home or look in your closet.
When decorating, choose variations of your favorite color to add to your home. A splash of color brightens up a room. One room can go from drab to wow with the swish of a paintbrush or a well chosen painting. Select articles that will complement the colors and vice versa.
Instead of just picking a suit for work, decide on outfits that will make a statement as well as an impact. If you're more conservative, allow yourself the opportunity to mix and match your pieces. If you're not conservative, but your job calls for a more conservative wardrobe, spice it up with a colored scarf, brightly colored shoes or with some accessories.
If decorating or fashion is not your forte, for those who are unsure or need a little extra help, there are image consultants and interior designers to assist with the process. Your personal style is yours and yours alone, take time to find it, express it and flaunt it. It will be one of the best things that you can do for you.
